Usages:
For isolation for Salmonella (except S. typhi).
 
Principle:
Peptone provides the carbon and nitrogen; sodium chloride maintain osmotic equilibrium; lactose, sucrose, sugars that can be fermented; phenol red indicator in yellow when pH6.8, pH8.1 pink, acid producing fermentable sugars colonies yellow, not red colonies fermentable sugar; brilliant green against Gram-positive bacteria and most non-Salmonella Gram-negative bacilli.
 
Formulation(per liter):
Beef extract powder 5g
Peptone 10g
Yeast extract powder 3g
Disodium hydrogen phosphate 1g
Sodium dihydrogen phosphate 0.6g
Agar 15g
Lactose 10g
Sugar 10g
Phenol red 0.09g
Brilliant green 0.005g
Final pH7.0 ± 0.2
 
How to use:
1.Suspend 54.7g in 1 L of distilled water , stirring heated to boiling until completely dissolved, dispensing flask, 121 ℃ autoclave for 15min.
2.Diluted and treated samples.
 
Storage: Keep container tightly closed, store in a cool, dry place, away from bright light. Storage period of 3 years.
